July Gaming Wrap Up: Trench Crusade, Kill Team, 40k Multiplayer, Scouts Out!, Blackstone Fortress

My dear fellows, here is my roundup of gaming in July. The summer semester has been demanding work-wise but I was still was able to play more ofthen than normal. This month I played five games: Trench Crusade (Learning Game), Kill Team (Learning Game), Scouts Out! (Atlanta Eastiside Light Irregulars), Blackstone Fortress (Boardgame)

More pictures and short thoughts

Trench Crusade

Thoughts: This was my first time playing Trench Crusade face to face. We played a three-way game using a 40k multiplayer scenario from Cauldron of Blood. The game was also social so we did not finish it. We liked a lot of stuff from the rules, though we also felt some parts needed more calrification.

Kill Team

Thoughts: This was my second try of the new Kill Team Edition. We played with full strategems but not equipment. It was my Elucidan Starstriders (my Rogue Trader) vs. Brood Brothers. We finished the game and I lost. It was fun ,though once more the length of the game was rather long. Still I enjoyed it, though I think I will stick to my Rogue Traders as KT as they are simpler to my other options (Death Guard, and Imperial Agents).

Scouts Out!
Thoughts: Scouts Out! was our game for the Atlanta Eastside Light Irregulars. This is a 1914-1918 focused skirmish game of small squad actions. It can easily be applied to the 1890-1940 period. It is a true skirmish game, fast and deadly. I greatly reccomend it. We played Russians vs. Austro-German

Black Stone Fortress
Toughts: A game I very much wantedto buy when it came out. It is a light board-game with a 40k theme, a bit less detailed than Arkham Horror, but more than Zombiecide. I did enjoy it, but I must confess it did not give me the narrative kick I crave for 40k. It is fun game though.

Multiplayer 40k

Thoughts: We played a 1000 pts per player, four player free for all 40k Multiplayer game. The main scenario was No Prince to Hight from the White Dwarf Cualdron of War scenarios, with an added twist by me. Kylie brought her World Easter, Adam his Emperor's Children, Thom his Orks, and I my Death Guard. We got though three turns but could not finish. While we had fun there were dead times and I feel multiplayer 40k really needs diffrent rules than one vs. one 40k. This still remains my favorite way to play 40k.

The twist was a second area were an extra objective resided. There were restrictions on how to reach it.
