De Re Militaria

Mark Smylie gave me permission to share with you all the draft of my source book De Re Militaria, a collection of DBA army lists inspired by Mark's Known World Artesia setting. You can get it at my material for wargaming page or at this link DE RE MILITARIA. Enjoy, comments welcome.

New Audio-Book narration: Mark Smylie's Black Heart

Mark Smylie has kinldy gave me their blessing for a my amatuer audio narration of his second book Black Heart. This is set in one of my favorite setting the Know World of the Artesia Comics. You can get all the comics, plus other relevant publications at the Aegis and Gorgon Drivethru RPG store . His first novel, The Barrow, is here, and in an excellent profession audiobook version here. I decided to start working on a hobby audio narration of the second book, Black Heart. Let me be clear this is and will remain an amatuer effort. It will be slow going (the book is a nice big long book), and I will remove it on the happy day Black Heart gets picked up by a publisher. But until then enjoy

Here is the very start, Prologue the First, about a night of knives and death.

Project finished: The La Maisontaal ruin rural terrain piece

I finished working on a papaer print piece of terrain for the good ole days, the La Maisontaal ruin from the old Lichmaster Citadel set for 1st or 2nd edition Warhammer. Somebody put up scans of those old files  and when I was in Elko I went to Office Depot and printed them in colour. Once I had time in Atlanta I sat down and worked on it using left over cork from my BBB terrain project for the walls. All in all a nice little project. I will loan it to my usual game store (Challenge Games and Comics) since my 40k sets are built for urban ruins, not rural ruins. A lot of the work for this was inspired by the Trrain Maker song of Artifice Maho on Youtube.

Past Collections: 28mm Fugures. Many of which I should never had parted with.

Photos form the old blog of 28mm figures I paid. These are gone now, sold or given away. I regret selling my Space Marines especially, as the new owner stripped off the paint work.

Tenth Game of the Year: Teaching Games for the Elko Group: Saga: Age of Magic and Combat Patrol

This week my hobby time was taken up by teaching games. I demoed on Tuesday for Darren and Stephen Saga: Age of Magic. It was good to see Saga on the table again. We used my Age of Sigmar Undead and the XP Store Age of Sigmar, Sigamarite force. Both players enjoyed the game. I hope to run a three player scenario found in this lovely collection of scenarios .

On Saturday we went to the Elko Public Library and Darren played Cody in a learning game of Combat Patrol. Cody used my Tau. I must say he did much batter than me in my first game.

All in all a good investment of time that should gets us some more regulars. We know have both Tuesday and Saturday sessions, so we can offer opportunities for gaming to everybody who cannot make Tuesdays.

Milestone and learning game: Undead and Remote Combat Patrol

I reached a milestone in my Fantasy Undead Project. I now have a force that can be used in a 4 point Saga: Age of Magic Game. Undead are all Citadel Miniatures.

Flesh and Steel vs. Bone and Malice

I also ran a two turn remote learning game of Combat Patrol for my friend Kostas. Here are a couple of pictures.

Project Done: 28mm Chivalric force for Saga inspired from the Araswell contingent in Mark Smylie's "Blackheart"

While I am still working on the Erid and Dain Dania contingents inspired by the Black Day Battle in Mark Smylie's Artesia series, I have completed the Araswell contingent inspired by the "Blackheart" novel in the same setting. I used 28mm Perry Miniatures plastic War of the Roses Foot Knights and Infantry, and Old Glory War of the Roses crossbowmen. It took me about a year and half to finish this. Cost for these specific is about 35 USD (from a total of 100 USD for all three projects-Erid & Dain Dania and Araswell).

The force is organized with Saga: Age of Magic in mind using the Great Kingdoms list. Thus a warlord, two units of hearthguard (4 each), one unit of warriors (8), and one unit of levies (12 crossbows)
