Eleventh Game of the Year: Remote Bloody Big Battles, Gribomvo 1897

After two years, I finally got a chance to play some Bloody Big Battles. The plan was to run a remote game with others, but technical difficulties meant I had to solo it, while the other watched and listened.  I ran my draft Gribomvo 1897 scenario. I was able to play four turns before having to call it quits. The scenario is difficulty for the Greeks, though I do think a Draw is doable. I am very happy with the terrain setup, which only took 20 mins to put together. I am definetly going to run this for the local group.

Tenth Game of the Year: Teaching Games for the Elko Group: Saga: Age of Magic and Combat Patrol

This week my hobby time was taken up by teaching games. I demoed on Tuesday for Darren and Stephen Saga: Age of Magic. It was good to see Saga on the table again. We used my Age of Sigmar Undead and the XP Store Age of Sigmar, Sigamarite force. Both players enjoyed the game. I hope to run a three player scenario found in this lovely collection of scenarios .

On Saturday we went to the Elko Public Library and Darren played Cody in a learning game of Combat Patrol. Cody used my Tau. I must say he did much batter than me in my first game.

All in all a good investment of time that should gets us some more regulars. We know have both Tuesday and Saturday sessions, so we can offer opportunities for gaming to everybody who cannot make Tuesdays.

Update: Some online gaming, some painting, and some terrain work

Greeting to all, and a good start of Lent for Orthodox Christians.

This week I did three hobby things:

1) Painted a proxy miniature for a commissar for 40k. The miniature is the Khurasan Miniatures Genocidal Overlord  which is a great sculpt. I added a green-stuff hussar pelisse, and Perry Miniatures War of the Roses hanger sword in the scabbard. An easy miniature to assemble and paint.

2. Finished my Gribomvo 1897 dedicated terrain set. Now I can run a demo game at the club, and also remote games. I used office depot cork tiles for elavations.

3. Played a four player, two team game of Combat Patrol at Table Top Simulator. I do not count this in my hobby playing, as no physical figurines or markers were moved, but we had fun, and I was on the winning team (Tau and Dark Angels). A learning game for two of my mate. We will play again.

Gaming schedule should be good. Tomorrow I am running a demo on Saga: Age of Magic. Saturday maybe a learning game of CP for others. Then we have Legion Imperialis campaign, Xenos Rampant, Underworlds, and then back to CP.

Ninth Game of the Year: Combat Patrol once more. Tau vs. Necrons

Tonight I played my ninth game of the year. This was another game of Combat Patrol (at my request), were I played my Tau vs. Darren's. Necrons. My losing streak continued, but I did better than last time. I wiped out two of his units, and came close to a third, and for three turns was competitive in VPs. I played my Fire Warriors more aggressively, and used the warlord enhancement that gave them a extra save and feel no pain. I also used the Ghostkeel much better. I still misused my Sealthsuits.  This time we played faster, reaching turn five (were I conceded) in an hour and a half. Jolly good.

We will be taking a break from 40k. We will be playing a demo of Saga:Age of Magic, a Legion Imperialist Campaign, a Xenos Rampant game, and AOS: Underworlds. When we get back to 40k we will play my DG combat patrol and perhaps some games at incursion level with my DG.

Table set up. I added some more minor terrain.

Eighth Game of the Year: Legion Imperialis

Since Darren is enjoying the Formula 1 season, me and Vern played another game of Vern's current favorite game, Legion Imperialis. For the first time I got to finish a game (three turns), though I lost. I played Alpha Legion not-traitors, and Vern the Imperial Army. I went for a refused flank once more, but got my teeth broken in. All in all a good game.

Small Project Done: Proxy Dark Angels Combat Patrol XP Store Army

Finished the second of the two combat patrol proxies I was working on from the XP Gaming and Cafe store collections. This one is a proxy for the Dark Ages Combat Patrol. The figures are old style. A veteran dreadnought proxy for the redemptor (I know it is a small boy), a old style chaplain terminator as a proxy for the normal chaplain, and firstborn marines in raised bases for primaris. I think it works.

Seventh Game of the Year: Combat Patrol once more. Tau vs. Necron's once more. But with a twist!

Nope, I did not win. But at least this time I wiped out a Necron Unit. The Destroyers received withering fire from my whole army on turn 2, and the Ghostkeel (this time my own) finished the job. But the rest of the Necron army was able to make mincemeat of me. I did make mistakes, so deserved the defeat (bad placement of my Stealthsuits), but still it was worth it.

The table.
